Oh that's right, I have a blog.

Argh, I've been writing so much of my script I've neglected my blog. Oops. I hate that cause now I can't remember what I've done for the past 10 days....
Seen a lot of films lately cause award season is upon us and I'm lucky enough to benefit from borrowing friends' dvd's. So in no particular order I've seen Juno (Awesome), Dan in Real Life (Shmaltzy), Elizabeth (a shame), Keane (interesting in realtion to my film), Blow out (old campy de palma), Jesse James... oh that reminds me.
Andrew Dominik you are a cock! I have looked up to you and inspired me ever since I saw Chopper. That film, for me, showed me what an Australia film could be - not the bullshit mick malloy comedies. Then comes Jesse James, laungishing in editing hell for a year or more, bad press, bad vibes, stories of fighting with LEGENDARY DP Roger Deakins. Throughout that I thought it can't be him, they're being hard on the Aussie guy. How wrong was I. He was a complete prick to me at the Q&A after the screening. It wasn't in a oh I'm too busy or oh I'm a big hotshot like say Brett Ratner. He's just a prick naturally. Anyway, enough negativity. I hope you enjoy the failure of your film Mr. Dominik, cause you sure deserve it.

I went to a wedding on the weekend, it's amazing what weather can do. The cool air coupled with an outdoor wedding made it all a little somber... I got very drunk so it was fun for me haha. Thanksgiving this weekend we're off to Palm Springs, should be fun. Hopefully hopfully I'll finish my script!
Hmm, what picture of fun can I put here... ok Juno trailer for your pleasure.

Fog Town.....

Ok so I haven't been writing every day, but I'm getting to it! Was a slow week due to a nuclear war commencement. Luckily the war was ended at the 11th hour of debates on Sat afternoon though. I went at check out the location that I want to shoot my film CRISTAL in. It was in Fontana which is an hour east of Los Angeles. It's a whole other world out there. People talk differently, act differently have a very small town feel, living only an hour away from one of the world's biggest cities. So the house is perfect, not sure how difficult it would be shooting around the family still living there and only having two bedrooms. For a while now I was thinking of if only I could find a house to shoot in, now it's 'oh if only I could find the money'. I wish so badly I could get this film made...but it's not looking good. I've been writing madly... we'll see.. stay tuned.
Here is a picture of my bbq lunch at the local gas station, luckily I'm still alive after eating it.

Thurs and Fri night were a wash. Saturday night we went to the Swell Season concert at the Wiltern. Such a great venue. Glenn Hansard is brilliant. A lot of aristists could take a page out of his book, he short sweet stories between each song were amazing. Here is my favorite song of the night, it wasn't from the film ONCE, which everyone should see, but a cover of a song I've never heard by Michelle Shocked.

Sunday I caught a free screening of DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY.

Now the film was fanstastic. Solid Solid filmmaking, some great great visuals, all performances were pitch perfect. But I did not feel emotionally invested. The Q&A with Oscar winning writer Ronald Hardwood was fantastic. He talked about keeping the car scene (you'll see) until the end. I think perhaps not knowing him before his accident we, as an audience, we'rent able to become invested. Something I think will be the complete opposite in Cristal. Had some lovely Baja action, some great wall action then more writing on Sunday afternoon. Thus turning out to be a fine weekend.

The weekend that was..

It's funny, I didn't get home till 2am last night, but I'm not tired. I guess by 2pm today. So the writers strike started today, maybe that'll give me some time to write myself. Joe gave me a Nov 10 deadline, which is this weekend. Yeah not looking good hahah. So Fri night was low key, hung at home. Saturday... um... maybe all that vodka last night wasn't a good idea. Wow it feels like weeks ago. Oh yeah, had a great breakfast/lunch at Dupars, man why have I not been going there more often? The lemonade could possibly be the best I've ever tasted. Helped my friend Ryan and his wife Maria move into their new house. Very nice little place in the valley, perfect perfect size. Sat night we went to this AWESOME morrocan restaurant called Marrakech. Belly dancers and amazing food, what more could you ask for?

The stopped by Travis' film festival and Abram's birthday, was a good night all round. Sunday got up nice an early thanks to daylight savings. Rented bikes and rode down to Venice and back, even being cold and overcast it was a fun time. Nice to have some excerise, it's been a while and the 20lbs I put on prove that hahaha. Caught a matinee of Lars and the Real Girl. Was ok, I fell asleep for a bit, I just couldn't get into the story. Went home, had a um, nap. Then went to see Tone Loc and Peaches at the Avalon. It's funny how concerts like this really make me appreciate being in L.A. I mean the show was ok, but seeing Tone loc and peaches for free on a Sunday night? Never would happen in Australia. Here's a photo of Mike and I looking all cool, well wannabe cool, and a clip of tone and peach and a pic with Tone and I hahaha

Back baby

Wow, a year. A fucking year has passed. Where did that go? It's funny, as I write this I'm a little solemn, I'm feeling dead in my job. Very little to look forward to at the moment. BUT, on looking back over the past year it's been good I guess. Some very very memorably experiences, some amazing music gigs, some great movies, some amazing trips to some amazing places. I think back on all that and think damn I'm lucky. A friend looked at my Australian pictures recently and said "I am so envious of that guy". Wow, I look at other people so much and envy them, never thought anyone did that for me. So I'll try to post regularly, I'll try to also do some flashbacks to the past year. So to get started. Wed night, Oct 31. I didn't do anything Halloweenish on the actual night but I did go to a wonderful romantic dinner at a new sushi restaurant called Takani downtown. Amazing venue. 21st floor of a bldg downtown. NICE. Pic below. Also below is a photo I took on Thursday morning around the corner from my house. I did take out a little of the color but this was in broad day light at 9am, taken through my windshield. I wish I had more time and a better camera to have really explored it.

late!

3 weeks later SHEESH.
I know I suck. Had a miserable Thanksgiving. Watched a couple of movies..
Went to the Rendition set on friday night. Was great seeing Meryl Streep and Peter Sarsgaard live and in the flesh acting on set, very inspiring. Ok I'm not going to go back over the past few weeks, I can't even think of everything. So was at the Rendition set on Friday till 4am. Saturday I had brunch with Michael Wilkie which was really nice. Good to catch up on the Aussie gossip. Slept alllll afternoon Saturday, man I hate wasting afternoons. Went to Joy's xmas party on sat night, was funner than last year, some nice people, not as cold outside etc. Then went downtown to meet Joe, Bri and Deb at Bar 107. Was nice and drunk, waste of time going downtown but then went back to silverlake, was fun. Sunday tried to watch a friends play but hadnt' started yet. Then went and saw The Aura which was AWESOME. Rushed over to Harris' for dinner which was wonderful as ever, met some nice actors etc.
Monday night... went and saw Candy. Again a great great film but kind of a same old heroin sotory, they kind of made it look inviting..well not really. Tuesday night had an early night, watch THE DEAD GIRL - such a brilliant brilliant film!!! Wednesday caught up with Husein who is renting a SICK house in the hills while he's here, very jealous...

Michael Mann

Wow, it seems it's now a weekly update. Last night I went to the Babel book signing at Taschen. Not only was Alejandro there, but I met the one and only Michael Mann. I mean sheesh, talk about bouncing from depressed to amazing stuff day to day recently. He was nice, signed my Taschen book :) So last weekend, Friday night was quiet, was sick still. Stayed home chilled. Chilled on Sat. Wow it's interesting, I dont' write a blog and I can't remember what I did last weekend. Sat night watched a horrible horror movie with Joe, then went and met Adam for a couple of drinks. I shouldn't have gone, wasn't well enough yet. Sunday I went to the Amazing Getty. There are some photos on my myspace blog. The photo exhibition was very very cool. THen went and saw FUR in Santa Monica. A pretty good movie but kind of forgettable. Home fairly early after the parking lot delay to watch THE WIRE. One of the best episodes ever. Monday um... went home and started writing a new script, very exciting stuff. The plan was to have it ready for xmas but doesn't look like it's going to happen. It's going well, feels great to be creative again FINALLY. Tuesday, same thing, wrote again :) Wed had a great basketball game 8 3 pointers YAY. A late night Jack in the Box run... I can't stop eating recently. I saw a photo of Sophia and I from a couple of years go, man was I chubby!! So thats' it, all up to date.
No big plans for the weekend, but want to write as much as possible...

Sick

I am sick. So all you get it is a brief update!
Um.. Friday night.. had a quiet night in, couple of glasses of red :) is NICE.
Saturday bummed around all day, watched THE HOST at the Afi Fest, pretty awesome stuff. Had lunch with the Horror posse. Back to the movies in the evening to see BORAT. Is nice. With the extended horror family. Was um, intersting movie going experience. Had it built up a little too much, but still laughed my ass off. Went to Brenda's going away party afterwards, and of course got myself nice and sick. Still very sick today and it's Thursday, please make it go away. Sunday had a nice sleep then some chillin' in the Valley, prounounced Vay-ey. Then Sunday nigth went to the Babel premiere afterparty, more drinks and fun at the very well catered event. Kicking it with the Anonymous family. Mon night sick again, more Vay-ey hanging. Tues night home sick, spent the entire day Wed in bed, then back to work today - a little premature. To add insult to injury I failed to read LA Weekly last week and I missed out on seeing The Knife who were in town. Of Course the one band I've been loving all year, comes to town and I dont' know about it. I think that made me even sicker hahaha Oh well. Home to bed again tonight. Well here is Silent Shout from San Fransico gig.

Ketch-up

Wait? It's Friday??? Holy moly. Fun party night Tues for the real Halloween. The Saw 3 party got shut down at 11pm cause of overcrowding, cops, helicopters etc. Went to Joe's friends crazy horror fun house afterwards for much much drinking, that's for you mom. Man I was tired on Wed with very little sleep. Ended up playing basketball till 10:30pm sat night, am I crazy? Quiet night Thurs catching up on movies, shorts and t.v. And now to the weekend ahead, 2 movies definitely to come, Brenda's going away party and Babel premiere party oh shit, look forward to sleepy day Monday. Should I do some work soon? I think so.

Helloween

Well it has begun, the lovely Halloween festivities for 2006. Thursday night I caught CSS at The Echo, was a great show - ALALA!!! Friday night was.. um blanking... Oh a nice dinner downtown at Pete's, first time eating there, and it was GOOD!! Caught up with V to go this dodgy little halloween party - was ok but damn was I tired!!! Like right now actually. Had a frantic Saturday morning driving around L.A. trying to get the finishing items for my Halloween outfit. Sat afternoon I went to my very first American Football game with Harri. Damn was it good. I for some reason, never thought all the cheerleaders, band, hype, tailgaiting etc actually happened at every game. Well it does. It was amazing. Awesome seats, perfect weather looking out over the Pasadena mountains. Nothing beats a full stadium singing Star Spangled Banner!! Had to leave before the end of the game to race home and get my costume on. It turned out pretty well I think!

Went to a party at Almost Human sfx house with the horror posse. Was a lot of fun. Lots' of booze and frivolity. Some AMAZING costumes, man people spend a fortune. THen a small afterparty at this very overtop decorated horror house on Coldwater. So many full size horror movie props and scary stuff.
Spent most of Sunday in bed. Well I wish is what all day and I didn't go and see fucking SAW 3, what a piece of CRAP. Then another Horror party Sunday night at the Schifrin's house. Again, amazing costumes, amazing house, amazing decorations and free booze. LOVE IT. Feeling VERY seedy today, monday night laundry and rest I think.
The best party is yet to come tomorrow night when Lynch and I rip up the Saw 3 party... I'll be sure not to mention my hatred for the film hahaah.

Sexy Back has been BA-rought

What a difference... a vodka makes....
The very nice Mr. Scott Forte invited me to a small party for Asics last night and what did I get? A new pair of the latest Onitsuka's - then had them personalized by Justone - some cool graffiti artist. I mean seriously, free shoes??? God bless missing basketball on a Wednesday night. Then to the CAA Young Hollywood Party - Best night of October? Possibly - actually no wait, there was Basement Jaxx. Lots of drinks with the Anon crew, lots of ciggies out on the patio and the best drive home ever? Wait did I stop and get gas? Did I stop in a tunnel? No idea. But lets just say I'm back bitches!!! Pictures after the jump.
Oh and yes I'm a little sleepy today.

Sooky Sooky LA LA

Urgh, what is wrong with me. I am emotionless. Not sure what is going on inside my head. It's like my anchor disappeared and I'm just floating around the ocean, with no direction, no motor, no gas, nothing. Had an ok weeked. Saw The Prestige Fri night, was really good! The Sound of Music on the other hand, um... yah. Saturday stayed home all day, read a couple of scripts, watched a couple of average movies. Cleaned up the house, all those little errands. Stayed home Sat night as well, there was a good DJ playing in Hollywood but decided to save the money and stay in, or was that cause I didnt' have any good party friends?
Sunday lazed around in the morning then went to the Norton Simon Gallery. WOW what a surprise that was. Stunning gardens, great artwork. I've been here three years and never heard of it. I went for the photo exhibit but ended up loving the rest of it. I mean walking into a museum that has rodin statues out the front AWESOME. Then I had to go and ruin it by seeing Marie Antoinette. Sofia Coppola, you should be put to work in sweatshop to earn off the $40 million you wasted on this crap film. You don't deserve to make films of this size. It made me angry!
So anyway, I hope it changes but at th emoment I fee like:

Butcher Boy/Pill Bug/Rolly Polly

If you'll think back to when I saved a worm the other day? Today I stood on a butcher boy. He died. I feel bad. But I should be even now because I saved a worm right?

The amazing October continues

Well, since being in L.A. I haven't really got into the whole celebrity thing, but this weekend was kind of a bumper one for celebs. I expected on Friday to go home and do NOTHING all weekend, stay in bed watch dvd's. None of which really happened.
Friday night I could a session of The Departed after work. Pretty good film, not the best Scorsese movie by a long shot, some average filmmaking overall, but some amazing stuff none the less. Then after looking for my misplaced ATM card, picked up Shannon and Travis and headed of to The Roosevelt for the afterparty for The Tripper premiere. Saw Sasha Baron Cohen (again), Patricia Arquette, David Arquette, Courtney Cox, Thomas Jane and few bats on the ceiling and free food and drinks WHOOP WHOOP. A few nice cigarettes out by the pool...not a bad way to start the weekend!
Saturday.. slept till lunch, well 1pm. Then started watchign the HORRENDOUS Killing me Softly - jesus how bad is that film, then slept all afternoon. YAY. After some early evening laundromat action got a last minute ticket to the Dressed To Kilt - Scottish Fasion event. Was much fun, long but fun. Some more celebs - Natasha Henstridge, Lloyd from Entourage, Rhona Mitra, Curtis the take home chef etc etc. Much fun late night.
Slept till 2pm Sunday YEAH BABY, actually maybe I did get plenty of sleep! Then got a surprising call from Travis that he hooked up tickets to the Chainsaw Awards! SCORE SCORE SCORE. Avril Lavigne, Chingy, Jamie Kennedy, Playboy Bunnies - Girls Next Door, Jada Pinkett-Smith and so on and so on.
Waited 45mins and talked our way into the afterparty which was pretty awesome, more free food, free booze OH THE JOY. Here are a few pics.

Tired

Dragging ass this week.
Sorry for the delay in blogging, maybe I'm losing interest. That would suck for you!
Went to see the L.A Kings on tues, was fun. Then some drinks at The Standard downtown - damn I love that place soooo much! Work has been lame this week but after a ok nights sleep I'm getting back into it. Played HORRIBLE basketball last night... what a debbie downer I am. I've said it before and I'll see it again. The Knife are the best band of 2006, I love it I love it. Watch this video and love it.

Had a tough call with my mum today, talking abotu life, staying in L.A., money etc etc I hate those calls. Life is so hard, live near your family or follow your dreams.. who knows the answer?

ROCK-TOBER

Can it really get any better this month?
Thursday night, was a little sick so went home, got under the covers and watched 2Thirty7 - such an AMAZING Australian film. Friday night snuck out to see LITTLE CHILDREN - A very interesting drama, not perfect but entertaining. The trailer though is the best trailer this year, you can see it HERE.
Went out and got nice and drunk after than with the one and only woman of the minute Shannon Hourigan - hailing all the way from Down Under!!! Hangover aside pulled myself out of bed on Saturday, hopped on the train down town to see... wait for it... BASMENT JAXX wooooohooooooo
Best performance ever. Best Show. Best atmosphere. Best crowd. I could go on and on and on. Where's your head at. Here is some video I shot.

The rest of the festival was ok, nothing crazy but much fun. The parking ticket when i got back to my car wasn't fun, but hey, and extra $40 to see teh Jaxx, bring it on. A nice nice nice sleep in Sunday morning.. Then off to see Babel with the returning Joe Lynch. Man, that film was PEREFECT. So amazing, heartwrenching, stunning etc etc etc PERFECT. See It!!
A little afternoon nap then out for some more drinks at Cat and the Fiddle with Shannon and the horror posse. Couple of glasses of lovely wine, nice company what a way to end the weekend.... priceless.

Paging Dr Blair...

I hate the fucking U.S. medical system. Stupid deductibles, stupid co-pay, stupid doctors that take for ever and make you get a parking ticket. So anyway apparently they can change my voice. I'm like change it to an American accent - she laughed. But no they can do this sinus clean out thing, which she thought I need, that will make me breath perfectly and speak clearer. Supposedly the maxillary sinus shown below should look like this but maybe mine is like half the size.
I say bring that ON. Then the reality... with the deductible and then paying 10% of all hospital bills it'll be $500+... yeah that dream lasted oh... 3.5 seconds. So some days I'm like who cares about money, life is good, I have working limbs and senses, then you go to the doctor and bang crash explosion I all of a sudden feel poor and miserable. Maybe a little TV will cheer me up tonight.. we shall see. In other news... the countdown is on for... BASEMENT JAXX - Billy, Billy Billy, Billy BANGO. Saturday afternoon. BRING IT ON!
I think I need to go to the supermarket tonight. Oh wait - no money PSYCH.

C.B.

Oh what a wonderful Monday night. Man I knew October was going to be amazing. The Wire gold. Street Fighter 2 at the pizza shop, LOVE IT. Man I miss playing the pinnies. I think I'm getting used to staying up late and man oh man I like it.

So my friend Lara who was here a few weeks ago and she has this 'way with words'. I'm sure it started with her stay in London but has grown into a vocabulary comparable to the south central boys. So when she can be bothered I'm going to add Lazza-isms to this post....
BOLLOX - Can replace the use of Bull shit. Used to call someone out when lying or exaggerating.
CHIN CHIN - To replace cheers when clink a drink, usually Champagne, Red Bull and vodka, in the same glass.
DVDIX - No longer just DVD's.
DIRTY WHORE - A backhanded compliment, usually in response to someone being lovingly mean to you. E.g. "Give me that last cupcake" "Nah get your own ya DIRTY WHORE".
FOO FOO SHI SHI - Fancy dress, no not dress ups, but nice clothing, bling bling, let me see your grillz.
FILTHY MOLE - A girl usually, but sometimes a guy who dabbles in the world of excess.
GET A RAT UP YA - Originated from one Matt Callander, but now filed under Lazza-ism. Similair to dirty whore, this can be used to end a conversation or discussion that one no longer wants to participate in. Usually said before a swift turn and exiting of a room.
UNDERWATER BASKET WEAVING - The fine art of dancing to hippy inspired techno music. Those performing this dance would often have excessive underarm hair, dreads and a distinct odor.
WHOOP WHOOP - Used with a masculine voice to express excitment at the current techno song playing. Also used in anticipation of a big night out or to get the troops pumped up.

Take me back to your house

Well what a lovely weekend. Where do I begin? Friday night, early sleeps, late night drinks. Lazy Saturday in bed, afternoon Cafe Aroma burger yummy. Saw Guide to Recognizing your saints, which was pretty good. Picked up the new Soulwax cd, it's pretty good. Although I am now appreciating the Basement Jaxx cd much more. Sunday night was everything I'd hoped for and more. Yeah Yeah Yeah's AWESOME, one of the best nights ever. That Karen O really knows how to rock out. Hot and sweaty up in that Palladium. Bit of Pizza action, love the Lana Turner! I need to go to more concerts. Today has been kind of lazy. A little distracted from such a great weekend I think. It's a jewish holiday so the industry kind of dies. Spent the afternoon doing ADR on one of our clients movies THE GOOD LIFE, was fun, a great way to spend an afternoon...

Another week, another...

...measly paycheck. Slow day today. A few too many vodka-redbulls last night. Felt like I could have happily died this morning, argh the morning headache. Remind me to drink water before going to bed in future. The weekend is upon us. The time when I take home a pile of scripts to read, a bunch of films and end up doing laundry and watching TV all weekend. We'll see...

Return of the Mack...

Well I may be Isuzu size now, but the mack truck returned last night. I busted some heads at basketball. I guess my bad day was taken out on the court. There was no blood but I threw plenty of elbows, man Big Kev would be proud. Stayed up late watching Project Runway and American's Next Top Model... do I sound like I should come out of the closet or what! Can someone buy me a Macbook Pro? I really want to make some cool shorts but I have nothing to make them on. OOh I just noticed I'm pretty good at touch typing - maybe I should do secretary work in my spare time to pay for the macbook. So... anyway... do you hate the feeling when you have something coming up in the future that you know is not going to go well. But rather than do something to fix it, you just wait and let it happen? ok maybe that's just me, but I'll get back to you next week. OK Volney wants to go for a ciggy, back later.

Rains it pours

Well this is what staying up late gets you:

After being up very late last night I get my assk kicked today. Man oh Man it sucked. I'll just have to take it out on the basketball court tonight. Alas, have nothing exciting to talk about cause I'm sulking. I got a new Razr whoop whoop. I saw Half Nelson last night which was very good, well Ryan Gosling was very good. Then I bought the new Basement Jaxx Album. Let's just say I hope they play a lot of their old stuff next week!!!

ANTM

Oh the joy... 2 glorious hours of American's Next Top Model, followed by another fabulous hour of The Wire. A monday night doesn't get much better than that. I really want to be on the reality show On The Lot which is coming up next year. Make it happen movie gods, make it happen!! Look out for updates for Mum, Malcolm and good ol' Blake in coming days. I'm just feeling a little lazy today, but I'll get there. Here is a photo of my family cat back home. Now I used to tease my mum for feeding it so much, cause he was HUGE, but now after a haircut he isn't that bad. Meet Dusty:

Sleepy Eyes

Had an interesting weekend....
Jackass was pretty fun, Pampas was divine and I likey the Golden Gopher. Got in some nice beach time on Saturday. It's so cool that there is still beach time this late in the year. Had a nice lunch on Sunday at Le Petit Four on Sunset. I've driven past this very 'be seen' restaurant hundreds of times but it's funny eating their watching the slew of ferrari's and plastic surgery experiments parading by. Then another wonderful trip to LAX. Yeah not fun at all. Almost makes me not want to travel anymore. I'm staying in L.A. forever hahahaah
OK that's it, I'm tired, need some sleep and to catch up on some great T.V.
This Sunday it's all about the Yeah Yeah Yeah's.
Now for the picture of the day... actually video of the day:

Kefalopono

Today I have a headache. I'm not sure why, I dont' usually get them... I've taken some ibuprofen so hopefully that helps. I need some danm panadol. I had an amazing lunch yesterday. If anyone reading this lives near Culver City - I know that is a huge zero - check out Tender Greens. The have this AMAZING steak sandwhich, that mixed with a baby spinach salas and goats cheese, is like a party in your mouth like never before!!
Can you tell not much is happening at the moment?
I missed america's next top model season premiere last night, that cause me much dissatisfaction, maybe that is the cause for the headache today. I have 14 scripts on my desk that I need to read, I dont' want to read them "Mum, I don't want to do my homework today". Ok lets look to the future then, seeing as though today is average.
Tomorrow night JACKASS 2 - Big Kev says:

I also bought my tickets for the YEAH YEAH YEAH'S - Woo hoo. YYY and the Jaxx in one week next month, I feel October is going to be a ripper.

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

This.. is Lucky Riv

What are the chances?
Seeing Sacha Baron Cohen, in Borat outfit, just on the street, not at a premiere, then being able to sneak past security, take a photo with him, and be left in his camera crews wake???
Chances are pretty fucking slim! But as you see here, IT HAPPENED. Seriously, I don't do this with celebrities, ok maybe I did it with Chloe Sevigny when I was 21, but with Borat, I couldn't resist. Feast your eyes

I don't think anything today will compare to this, so don't expect an update.

Weekend in review

So the weekend, it was VAN NUYS. Saturday... a little hungover... did some laundry and got me car washed for the first time!! I mean I'd washed it before but never by the car wash people, man I love my car again. Watched the last few episodes of The Staircase - you must watch it!!! Gripping stuff. Sat night went to the fancy launch for GOOD magazine at this really cool venue downtown. I wonder sometimes why party planners don't notice that the music is TOO LOUD in a vacant church hall and that might be the reason that 75% of the people were outside instead of inside!! Was a great night though, I love downtown L.A. Here is the church:

Then had a couple of drinks at Pete's - I love that place!

Oh and opposite the church is a small dive bar for... wait for it... gay mexican cowboys. Just picture Brokeback Mountain set in Mexico - so funny!
Sunday got up nice and early, a little hungover again, had a little production meeting for my short film. Then when to a fun little pool party up in the hills. Yes as you can see from the picture, I could definitely handle living in the Hollywood Hills.

Then Sunday night went to a secret film screening at Victor Savla's house. Too many weird moments to mention in a public blog, but ask me and I'll elaborate. Then... the icing on the cake... home to watch THE WIRE. Wow, looking back it was quite a good weekend... the jalapeno sandwichs were the highlight though.

Today has been fine, little work but good stuff all the same, Monday's always blow. The highlight was certainly when I saved the life of this little worm who was burning to death on the hot concrete. Go long and live a long life Mr. Worm.

Nice Friday

Had a very good Friday work wise. I know I'm writing this on Monday because I was too busy at work. Did a major cleanup, did some proactive client stuff and my boss got a great gig for one of his clients. That all might not make sense but it was good. Then Lara came and met me at work, we went at saw Black Dahlia at the Arclight with the Anonymous Crew. Black Dahlia - BAD MOVIE, drinks at Tokio afterwards were good though! I'll be back later for a weekend in review.

I rock

I was right, after a nice basketball game where I shot 3 3's WHOOP WHOOP and then some lovely dessert, my prediction skills were correct. SEE YA KAYNE.
Ok now that's out of the way... Another day has passed and another few measily dollars earned. I got a very funny photo today from my good mate ROCKET. He lives in London. I wish he lived in L.A. He went to Greece last week for his birthday and this is his post greek feast stomach photo:

Look at that flubber fly...
Now here is Rod giving the international sign of 'I Love you'

For a while now Rod has been promising me he'd send me one of his stories that he's written. 3 years later I'm yet to see them. I'm hoping by writing this he'll be so ashamed that he'll be forced to send me something... OR for all of you avid rivetting readers you could send him a myspace message of encouragement here
Well that's it for today... had a wonderful mexican lunch...many cans of diet coke and now it's drink-o-clock time.
Also... Rod, or you can call him Rocket, gave me the now not very appropriate nickname of Mack Truck. We used to play basketball together and because I was a little 'thick' I'd charge through people on the way to the hoop. NOW, though as I've lost 30lbs he gave me the new nickname of ISUZU - c'mon that's pretty damn funny.

Whoa, missed a day

What was I thinking yesterday??? Somedays I wake up and think what on earth am I doing in this town, away from my family? I guess I'm working towards a goal, a dream, but it's hard to keep hold of that sometimes, especially waking up with a 'where am I' feeling every morning. Had a fun night last night, couple of drinks with Trav and Jessica and Tom Bergens then to Martel. Watched a little Nip/Tuck when I get home, which alas has me yawning a little bit today. It's lunchtime now, I'm a little hungry.... what to eat, what to eat. It's tough having to hesitate going out to lunch and dinner etc for lack of $$$. Argh I hate being poor, I hate getting paid crap. Some run their crystal ball and tell me when it'll change!
Oh a new Basement Jaxx CD is out, I better get onto that, I'm going ot see them on OCT 7 downtown, VERY EXCITED about that. Should I buy Yeah Yeah Yeahs tickets? it's so expensive with all those ticketmaster charges.. Could I be anymore negative today? OK maybe I should eat - might do be wonders. Oh tonight... is... drumroll...

I predict Kayne is voted off tonight!

Viva las 'driving'

So a last minute trip to VEGASS.
Wow, lot's of driving, lots of drinking and lots of laughs with Lara, Gretchen and Downtown Short Brown. I think I'm done with Vegas for this year. Unless I'm going to see a show or the Maloof's fly me out and give me the penthouse at the Palms then I'm not going. The 7 hour drive back was tough, missed an important meeting in the afternoon, but hey you win some you lose some. 3 girls and me in a mini cooper, now that took some work.
Here we are though, where my blog first started. THE WIRE. Oh how I smiled with glee last night when I sat down, freshly showered, fresh clean room and an ice cold can of diet coke to watch my favorite show. Damn it's soo good, so so so smart. Maybe I was a cop or something in another life. Anyway, if you haven't seen it go to the store and buy the dvd.

Hm... what else. Well my brother who I miss and love dearly doesn't believe in blogs. So much so that he won't even read mine! Little prick. If anyone feels like going around to my parents house and busting a cap in his ass let me know. How do you like that Malcolm! Maybe he's waiting for me to write about him.

Argh will good 'ol Judith put me out on the street? What will I do with my toys? Gosh darn it why can't I get a payrise.
Here is Judith, you should email her and ask her to not charge me rent anymore:

Not, Down in the Valley

I stayed up late watching Down in the Valley and man am I sleepy today. Such a nice film, definitely worth a watch...
So sleep deprevation = a fairly unproductive day. I just took an I.Q. test online only to get to the end and it asks you to pay for the result CU*$S!
Wow I'm really struggling for ideas today...
Go check out some videos by TheReceptionist cause today my blog blows.

Sad Sad Day.

Well today I am sad. Up until I saw Steve Irwin at UCLA in jan this year I thought he was kind of an over the top joke. I thought it was all an act, all for the U.S. audience.. When I saw him I was amazed at his passion, his love for animals and above all his love for Australia. He was such an amazing ambassador. He died in QLD yesterday of a sting ray spike. Sure it's better than he went out doing what he loved and hopefully not in too much pain. It's very upsetting to have such a true Aussie pass at such a young age. See ya mate.

Well I didn't die at Henry Rollins. Man can that guy belt it out. He's like a sweat machine. Amazing Amazing energy though. Swimming was amazing, the water was so warm. I really love being out in the sun, the endorphins your body produces with sunlight is awesome. Alas did not make it to Tijuana :( So you're all stuck with me for a little while longer. But I did see Rescue me!

Last Will...

Yes today there is nothing going on in preparation for the long weekend..
So lets just log in a little pre-weekend Will,
This weekend I'm doing two dangerous things. Going to see Henry Rollins with Joe Lynch. I'm not sure who is more dangerous... or maybe the vodka will be more dangrous... I will keep my chin off the floor (I hope)

Then I'm off to TIJUANA to see Bullfighting ARIBA ARIBA....
I hope not to get abducted, arrested or not able to return to the U.S. on Monday.. If you're a religious type... pray for me...

Rescue Me... please

I like Rescue Me, alot.
I used to like it more before a friend of mine ragged on it a little. I did see his points that everyone in the whole show is fucked up and is not that realistic. Anyway the season finale was on Tuesday, alas my Tivo that I love so dearly, decided not to record it. ARGHHHHHHHH
So I'm praying that some angel comes in and saves my life and hands me a copy of the show. So anyone, Bueller, any angels out there.
Lets just give a shout out to the opening credits song. C'mon C'mon.
Can you tell I had a boring day. Last night was awesome, magical even. I shot the lights out as always. OK... running out of things... What do you the reader want to hear?

How I became me...

Well well well, after all these years I finally get the skinny on how my mum and dad met and unlitmately created moi. I know I know they did a great job cause damn I'm cool!

So here it is, drumroll.... direct from Mary Rivett

It was late December 1967. I was invited as a member of the Williamstown Sea Ranger Group to wait tables at the Williamstown Mayoral Staff Christmas Ball with a number of other girls.
Seated at our table was Kathy Rivett whose father worked as a carpenter for the Williamstown City Council. To make up numbers at the table was her brother and sister and a couple of her friends. Shy me, as I was in those days, in between meals I was seated next to Kevin, Kathy's brother. Throughout the night Kevin was pestering Kathy's friend Dianne, who became very rude towards him and did not appreciate his advances. I jokingly said I think you are wasting your time, I think I was embarrassed for him. As the night progressed he asked me to dance and chat, not that I remeber all the details. At the end of the night he asked me how I was getting home and I said I was walking home but I had an inkling that Dad may come out to get me. Kevin told his parents he was walking me home, but we didn't get far because my mother & father arrived to drive me home (cause it was pased the time when I was supposed to be home). Mum was shocked to see her shy daughter walking hand in hand with a boy!
During the evening conversations I must have said where I worked and with his sisters help located my work phone number, on arrival at 8:15am the following Monday Morning I was greeted by the resident cleaner that a boy had rung asking for me at 7.30 am!!!! He rang again later that day and asked me out for the following Friday night, I think it may have been THE SOUND OF MUSIC. We travelled by train and walked in those days but with Kevin being 11 months and three weeks younger he couldn't have driven any way but in the following year he proceded to be the proud owner of an old Morris Minor.
Many stories and a lot of drama later we eventually married on September 19, 1970 at the Williamstown Anglican Church.

Well there you have it! Do you all need a tissue after reading that? Damn my damn was a panther!!

This is a photo of my mum in her guides outfit and one of my dead also from around the same time. Funnily both were taken in the parents backyards.

And here they are in 2005:

Cristal

So I've been developing a short film for a few months called Cristal (pronounced like the champagne).
It's going to be hard work getting it made, cause of the $$, but it's going to happen. It's based on the true story of a Filicide incident in Apple Valley, CA in Jan 2006.
Here is a link to an article on it: http://www.sbsun.com/troubledtown/ci_3375696
No doubt my mum will not enjoy the film but it will be very gripping and not exploitative. It's in the vain of Munich, Capote, Straw Dogs etc.
If you want to read the script, let me know... Two of the daughters still have their myspace pages up which is a little eery...
We're shooting 16mm and it's going to look amazing, no more video for this little black duck.

Weekend in short review

Here we are at the end of summer and it takes me 3 months to swim in the ocean.
Damn it was good!! Oh the salty sea. You have such lovely waves, especially when they break really close to the shore, then when you're walking back in, over the very rocky shore, a TSUNAMI appears and slams you into the rocks. To cut a long story short, I cut my leg, it hurts, but I will leave.

Had an amazing amazing dinner and Harrison's on Saturday, damn that girl can cook! Very magical night. I like me some vouvray. This is not one of the bottles I drank on Saturday but I had some recently and damn it was GOOD!

Who would have thought 2 years ago I didn't drink and now I'm recommeding obscure wines - CLASSIC!
Also to add to my list of things I hate from my Jul 2005 post.

I hate car Brakes. The should have a sign under Brake Masters that says LICENCE TO STEAL. I mean who knows what they are saying is true. Need new rotor's, $400, no worries go right ahead, I'm sure it's the same with any car repairs but tires you can see.. the motor, well if it stops running you fix it... but brakes, who knows!!!
Anyway I got raped on Saturday at Brake Masters...

My Dad

This is Kevin James Rivett.

He's my Dad. I think he was born in 1950.
He has been a fisherman for a mucho long time.
One day I'm going to make a documentary about his Angling club in Williamstown.
I'm not quite sure why it's called the Williamstown and Newport Angling Club.
That could be the topic of my doc. No doubt the guy who started it was from Newport and wanted to 'REPRESENT' his home town.
On any given Saturday you can find my Dad here at The Rifle Club pokies:

He will be with my Grandma.

I don't know my Grandma very well. You see, as most families do, we had a falling out when I was younger so there is a gap of years. I have some pretty funny video of my dad telling stories when I visited my grandma in May 2006. She's so wittle that gal.

My dad likes licorice and brains and some sausage made of blood. Sometimes I wonder if I was adpoted cause I dislike all of those things that he likes to eat.
He is quite the handyman. It's funny how often these days I learn things and remember that he'd told me long ago how to do or not do something.
I'm currently driving a '96 Mustang Convertible. He was very against me buying one in Australia when I was 18. At the time I was disappointed, but now I think it was a very smart decision. Then again, I wouldn't have got to drive the Commodore - bless that old V6 engie BROOOOOM

I've enjoyed writing about my family, I think I'll do mum (mom) next. Remind me to write about how my mum an dad met. People ask me from time to time and I don't remember. Maybe mum can write that part for me.

V

Is it me or is V for Vendetta lame?
Granted I did fall asleep at 8pm. Then woke up at 3am and watched the film. I really cant' get into these films that look so CLEAN. The sets are super brand new, there is no dust anywhere no grime. The film is set in the future, but it's still London. There is still dirt! Anyway regardless the film is not cool, it should be cool, it's not. Wow, I think I'm like a year late hahaha.

That said THE WAR ZONE is awesome, tough viewing, but jesus so amazing. Rent it, experience a good film.

I just ate 3 packets of Ritz Bits with, wait for it, Real Cheese.... How is that possible? Anyway, go buy some Ritz Bits and eat them while watching The War Zone for a great date night!

La Vida Loca

While reading my blog you have to listen to this: http://www.inthemix.com.au/broadband/fm/27890/DJ_Luna_European_Fling_Promo

Why do I have to have the desk with the direct sunlight right in my face, sheesh!

So I'm trying to write everday on this thing.

Each weekday I...
Eat a blueberry muffin at 9:40am
Have a can of Diet Coke by 11:30am
Eat lunch at 1pm
Have a can of Diet Coke by 4pm
Eat a packet of snackwells cookies if I can hunt them down by 6pm

Are you enthrawled yet.

I recommend www.doubleviking.com for mindless internet surfing when you discover my blog is boring.

Here is a fun pic of me rocking some LA VIDA LOCA:
